product of the week

This week I am sharing my ride or die skincare product!  I will share my full skin journey one of these days, but I have struggled with acne, scarring, and discoloration off and on for far too long. I have tried so many products both over the counter and prescribed, as well as heavy duty medication but nothing seemed to work long term. I don't even know how I initially discovered rosehip oil, but I am so thankful I gave it a try. I am not exaggerating when I say this oil completely transformed my skin! I can't live without it now.

I have used a few different brands of rosehip oil over the last two or so years, but my favorite comes from the brand Life-Flo! It is high quality, cold pressed, organic, and best of all it is affordable! I personally buy mine at Natural Grocers, but you can also buy it here on Amazon!

Why rosehip oil?
  • Rosehip oil contains vitamin A and vitamin C. Vitamin A is a retinol and encourages cell turnover (exfoliates), and vitamin C also regenerates cells and makes your skin look radiant
  •  Roeship oil helps to reduce inflammation, and calms irritated skin
  • Reduces hyper-pigmentation and can even out your skin tone
  • Helps boosts collagen which can reduce fine line and wrinkles
  • Moisturizing and non greasy
  • Reduces appearance of scars

Tips when buying rosehip oil:
  • The name can be misleading, but you do NOT want your rosehip oil to smell like roses. That means that fragrance has been added to your oil, and added fragrance can cause acne, and irritate your skin
  • Make sure your oil is cold pressed and organic- ensuring that it is high quality and nothing bad has been added, and nothing good has been taken away
  • More expensive doesn't necessarily mean better quality. Like I said above, I buy my oil at Natural Grocers, and it is under 10 dollars.
  • Check out the skincare product section at TJ Maxx, another one of my favorite rosehip oil brands is one I found there, also very affordable
  • The ingredients should only be rosehip oil. The oil I use also lists vitamin E on their product which I approve of ;)

I can't say enough good things about rosehip oil, if you are struggling with acne, eczema, dry skin, or any other irritations I highly recommend incorporating this into your skincare routine.
